Aberdeen and Angus has 20 Castles, here are two of the famous ones:
Balmoral Castle; Set amongst the magnificent scenery of Royal Deeside, in the shadows of Lochnagar is Balmoral. Purchased by Queen Victoria in 1848, the Estate has been the Scottish Home of the British Royal Family ever since.
Glamis Castle; Ancestral home of the Earls of Strathmore for over 600 years, Glamis is a living, breathing monument to Scottish hospitality; The castle has witnessed more than 600 years of history, find out about the many stories that surround it.
Whisky Trail; In addition to having more Castles than anywhere else in Scotland the North East, Grampian and Speyside contains half the whisky distilleries too! We have the Famous local Fettercarin distillery and the Visit Scotland website provides a useful 4 day whisky touring itinerary.
Golf, Golf Golf! As Donald Trump has demonstrated with his recent development plans for our local coastline, there is no better base for the Golfer to explore! Arguably the world’s most reowned and certainly one of the most challenging courses Carnoustie is just down the road from our own Montrose, the 5th oldest course in the world. This is no surprise really when we are only 1 ½ hours drive north of St Andrews, the very home of the Game. And so up Aberdeen, soon to be home of the new Trump development, it is already peppered with the highest density of high quality courses. The Visit Scotland website has over 70 North East Grampian Golf Courses listed. For the casual, or less experienced golfer there is a super little nine hole course at Auchenblae, just 8 miles inland and the Stonehaven Golf Course takes tee bookings from visitors all year.
Aberdeen and Shire; Something for everyone, the benefits of the Oil Industry and the long established Financial Services sector, in particular, have resulted in a City with many resources that the tourist can exploit. For shopping, all across the City, and now at the new Union Square Centre, there is all you need. Then you can take advantage of a wide range of eating and drinking options onto Dancing, Music and a full cultural portfolio from the Theatre to 8 Museums and much much more.

Angus, home of the Scots and our own postal county; As you’ll have noticed by some of the pages on this site, Angus, our immediate county area, is quite beautiful, on the east coast of Scotland, the rugged coastline of Angus opens into scenic glens. It is known as the historic birthplace of Scotland.
